Introducing our current Past Master

My name is Rob Hunt and I’m currently the Immediate Past Master of Stedfast Unity Lodge. No. 9128.

However, my journey into Freemasonry started just about 20 years ago.

I was Initiated into Freemasonry on January 2003, at Heronry Lodge No. 4789, which is a London Lodge and currently meets at Chingford Masonic Centre, London E4 7AZ.

Having been Passed in January 2004 and then Raised in October2004, I was very lucky during the next 6 years to occupy all the Offices from I.G. to S.W. before being Installed as W.M. in March 2010.

I was also Installed as W.M. at Heronry a second time in March 2016.

In 2017, I was appointed London Grand Rank at the United Grand Lodge of England, in Great Queen Street, and I am currently the Secretary of Heronry Lodge a role I took on in 2018.

I first visited Stedfast Unity Lodge in 2018, as a guest of W.Bro. Headley O’Brien.

I was immediately impressed by the warm and enthusiastic welcome I received from it’s members, and from the excellent Ritual performed in the Lodge.

Needless to say I left that meeting with a Joining Form - and joined officially at the end of 2019.

The Covid period hit in March 2020 halting meetings across the UK for nearly a year, and sometime in December 2021 I was asked if I would be willing to step in as W.M. of Stedfast Unity in order to help with the natural progression of the other younger members. I was overwhelmed at first - I couldn’t believe a Lodge would bestow it’s leadership to such a new member!

I needn’t have worried, as I received such excellent backing from all the members and the Lodge had an excellent year from Feb 2022 to Jan 2023.

February 2023 saw me pass the gavel to our new and current WM - W.Bro. Dennis Stratton.

Outside of Fremasonry, I’ve been a Postman for 24 years in the Brentwood, Essex area.

I’ve been married to Julie my wife for 31 years, we have 2 children, Thomas is 25, Emily is 29 and engaged to Nick, and they have just presented us with our first Grand Child, Ada, who is now 2 months old.

Outside of work and Freemasonry, my hobbies mostly evolve around motorcycles. I currently have 2, a 2017 BMW 1200cc which Julie and I go touring on, and I have a 1956 Norton Dominator 600cc twin - which is a bit of a handful as the brakes and the gears are on the wrong side, and the gears work upside down as well ! Oh - and the brakes don’t work at all either !

We quite often go abroad to see races - the furthest we’ve been is Phillip Island in New South Wales in Australia in 2019, to see the MotoGP Race.

That’s me really - a Freemason who feels very at home in the Stedfast Unity Lodge.
